- Activision confirmed to IGN this morning the newly announced 2011 Call of Duty title is the same title that will be developed by the newly formed studio Sledgehammer Games.
Confusion arose yesterday afternoon following an announcement which seemed to imply there were two separate titles in development: a new title by Sledgehammer Games and another title by an unknown developer for 2011. That's no longer the case.
This confirmation could mean Infinity Ward's next title won't ship until 2012 at the earliest if Activision continues with its annual release schedule for the franchise.
While little details are known about Sledgehammer Games' Call of Duty project, according to the announcement it will "extend the franchise into the action-adventure genre." Activision also confirmed yesterday that Treyarch is developing the next Call of Duty title set for release later this year. http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/107/1073797p1.html

| sounds like IW's next 1 will be getting 3 years, so they can actually make a good, balanced online game | |

That's exactly what I said. If their next game sucks, fuck 'em. I don't want it anymore.

| Vietnam is about the size of your left ass cheek. A war in such a little insignificant area isn't getting a "World At War" moniker. 5:1 says it'll be Call Of Duty: Vietnam. | |

| you know what they need? a REAL lobby system i think thats better than region locking atleast that way you can tell what kind of match youre getting into... that is, whether it will actually be playable |

| Well I'm still hoping it ties somehow into this years CoD. Having three different series of games going on under the same label is retarded.
All they need to do is give the local search feature that is seen in very few games. Dedicated servers or better matchmaking methods dammit!

| thats a good point, CoD was always 2nd best in their war against MoH, i hope MoH get their shit together and stir shit up with an awesome game with excellent dedicated servers and resistance 1 lobby/chat/internal message + invite system. then those CoD fucks might think, "shit, we might actually have to put effort into these games now there is competition...not just saturate the market annually with flawed shit in the knowledge that its a guaranteed top seller as we have a monopoly atm" | |

- Call of Duty 7: Black Ops (CoD7) is the next game in the massive Call of Duty (CoD) franchise. In a recent report on Tek9, Activision shared some details about the new CoD game.
Black Ops is scheduled for release in November 2010 and sources indicate the game developed by Treyarch will be set in history, between World War II and present day. It is also hinted that some of the missions will take gamers to Cuba and South America which hints at a Cold War and Vietnam based game.
In true Modern Warfare style, gamers will reportedly get a chance to play as a member of the Special Air Service (SAS) in which players will be involved in close combat during a mission in the Iranian embassy during the 1980’s.
The game is also hinted to feature the popular “zombie mode” where players will get to gun down forces of zombies which was made popular in Call of Duty: World at War.
For South African PC gamers and worldwide PC gamers alike, CoD7 is set to feature dedicated servers. Gamers across the world should put their hands together for Activision who seem to be weeding out the problems with previous titles by re-adding dedicated servers to the franchise.
"... With a scheduled release date of November 2010 the game is still in full development but undisclosed sources over at Activision have stated that "Call of Duty 7 will be set in recent history, between WWII and present day". Besides this information the sources have also confirmed that some missions will take us to Cuba and South America, hinting again in the direction of a Cold War / Vietnam based game.
Also revealed was that in certain missions the players are able to play as a member of SAS (the Special Air Service), the principle special forces unit of the British Army. One of these SAS missions pitches you in close combat during a mission in the Iranian embassy in London during the 1980's.
It has also been confirmed that Call of Duty 7: Black Ops will feature the popular zombie mode, in which players get to shoot down hordes of zombies, a feature that could not be seen in the Infinity Ward produced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
And last but not least, dedicated servers will also be part of the new Call of Duty game, much to the delight of PC gamers across the world. After Activision fired Vince Zampella and Jason West from Infinity Ward, it seems like they are taking yet another step back from the direction they had taken with Modern Warfare 2 by re-adding dedicated servers." |

| The very worst thing about mw2........ Stopping power.
Why??? Stopping power was introduced to cod4 to conteract juggernaut. When IW removed juggernaut they let stopping power survive. Whyyy did they do that.
Stopping power is the most used perk in all Call of duty games.
So they should have just fucked it off with jugger.
Soo next CoD game.
NO STOPPING POWER. | |
